Our club pledge states: As a dedicated and responsible club member, I pledge myself... —to be a committed and consistent trainer of my dog(s), —to actively participate in club training sessions and to share in the duties and chores required. —to relate to all club members with respect and dignity, both in word and action, —to support and uphold the reputation of my fellow club members against destructive criticism, —to actively discourage the first signs of dissension within the club, urging open communication and honest expression, —to respectfully confront club members, as necessary, whenever any friction begins to develop, in order to maturely arrive at a mutual understanding, —to make every effort to further good sportsmanship and to promote a positive and "fun" atmosphere within the club. |

| Olympus Schutzhund Club has been in existence for approximately 20 years. It was the first Schutzhund club formed in Utah and is the only DVG club in Utah. The membership is comprised of people who enjoy their dogs and working with them and each other in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. We have three times now hosted the Western Region Competition and hold trials and seminars every year. We put emphasis on balanced work with our dogs, applying equal time to tracking, obedience and protection. There are many people who believe Schutzhund is for 'vicious' dogs or will make a sweet dog vicious. Contrary to this erroneously held belief, Schutzhund is best done by dogs who are stable in temperament, easily controlled by voice commands and love to do what they were bred to do. This is a sport that demonstrates beautifully executed teamwork. In the many years Olympus Schutzhund Club has been training, our members have trained and titled a wide variety of breeds, such as Boxers, Doberman Pincher, German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, Bouvier de Flanders and Rottweilers. Our helpers are trained and certified through the DVG Certification program and we encourage anyone, male or female, who would like to learn to catch dogs to participate in our ongoing training plan. |

| Olympus Schutzhund Club is an affiliate member of DVG (Deutsche Verband der Gebrauchsundsportvereine) which was formed in Germany in 1903. Click here to read more about DVG America . Olympus Schutzund Club is a nonprofit club. We have yearly dues that go toward the upkeep and maintenance of club equipment. Each handler is responsible for their personal dogs' needs but bite sleeves, bite jackets, jumps, A-frames, and trial equipment is purchased and maintained by the club. |

| As a club we are very aware of the safety factors that are involved in the sport of Schutzhund. All dogs who participate in any part of the sport are required to be current on all vaccinations; rabies, bordetella (intranasal vaccine), distemper, hepatitis, parvo, para-influenza, corona for puppies up to six months, and a good parasite program, including heartworm medication. Written proof of this is to be presented to the Training Director or another board member before an evaluation is done. We practice humane training methods advocating positive reinforcement. We use all training aids in a timely manner and will not tolerate abuse or negative handling. The club supports one another with training tips, advice, video tapes and when possible, informative seminars on each of the |
