| Well, our spring trial is now complete. We had 6 entries, all of which were going for new titles and all performed fantastic routines for our prestigious judge, Carole Patterson and received their titles! Asheley Winters entered Pascha for two titles - the BH and the VPG I. She did the BH routine late Saturday afternoon - she passed and therefore was able to continue on to the next day and to do the VPG I routine. Her scores were 86 tracking, 84 obedience and 80 in protection for a total of 250 points and VPG I title. Great job Asheley! Denise Mersino with Benta came out on the trial field first thing Saturday morning for the BH. She has not been on a trial field since 2001 but you sure couldn't tell it! She did a fantastic job of handling Benta and passed the obedience portion with plenty of points to continue on to the traffic portion which she also passed with no problems! So congratulations to Denise and Benta! We're sure we will be seeing more of this great team on the trial field! Glen and Yoda trialing for their first VPG I routine. Glen, being determined to score very high with Yoda scored a very impressive 97 V in the tracking and continued with 93 points in obedience and 96 in protection! These team is definitely one to watch out for on the regional and national trial circuit! The final two were the FH titles - the FIRST FH titles that Olympus Schutzhund Club members have earned! Cheryl and Tiger ran the FH track laid by Byron Winters on Saturday afternoon. When he laid the track the sky's were overcast, the wind was blowing and it was 90 degrees! The terrain was as dry as it could get, the field was short dry wild grass that was about 6 inches deep mixed with wheat grass that was as tall as 12-18 inches! Tiger ran the track at 6 pm and the temperature went up to 92 degrees, the sun was out scorching hot, and the wind was gale force! Tiger wasn't sure if he was out there to track or what! He did however settle into the track, had some minor problems with a few of the corners but over all did a great job and scored 91 points! The judge said that this was by far the hardest terrain that she has ever judged an FH track. Joanna and Eiger's track was Sunday morning, laid by Glen Crawford at 6 am and run at 9 am. It proved to be just as difficult at Tiger's track - Eigers track was laid in grass that was mowed two days previous and went into some of the worst alfalfa terrain I have seen! Eiger also had a couple problems but overcame them impressively and scored 90 points! CONGRATULATIONS to all!!! |
