| Olympus Schuythund Club has been in existence for approximately 20 years. It was the first Schutzhund club formed in Utah and is the only DVG affiliated club in Utah. The membership is comprised of people who enjoy their dogs and working with them and each other in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. We have three times now hosted the Western Region Competition and hold trials and seminars every year. We put emphasis on balanced work with our dogs, applying equal time to tracking, obedience and protection. There are many people who believe Schutzhund is for 'vicious' dogs or will make a sweet dog vicious. Contrary to this erroneously held belief, Schutzhund is best done by dogs who are stable in temperament, easily controlled by voice commands and love to do what they were bred to do. This is a sport that demonstrates beautifully executed teamwork. Olympus is an affiliate member of DVG (DeutscheVerband der Gebrauchsundsportvereine) which was formed in Germany in 1903. | In the many years Olympus Schutzhund Club has been training, our members have trained and titled a variety of breeds, such as Boxers, Doberman Pincher, German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, Bouvier de Flanders and Rottweilers. Our helpers are trained and certified through the DVG Certification program and we encourage anyone, male or female, who would like to learn to catch dogs to participate in our ongoing training plan. Olympus is a nonprofit club. We have yearly dues that go toward the upkeep and maintenance of club equipment. Each handler |
